G-Force goes 4-2 at the MMA Bigshow

It was a good night for the team as 6 hungry mma fighters stepped into the cage ready to show the fans the next generation of G-Force fighters. Newcomer Mike Dabe has been anxious to get in the cage and show his teammates he had what it takes to represent Team G-Force and mma in cincinnati as well as continue the reputation the team carries for being one of the most aggressive fight clubs around. Mike got the night started off with a rear naked choke in the first round. Manager/Trainer (Mr.G) Ron Gabelman said “We’ve all been anxious to see Dabe get in the cage he trains real hard all the time and he’s improved so much since starting mma training just 6 months ago, he suffered a little adrenaline dump after the fight but thats typical for an amateur, thats why we call it getting their cherry popped. Mikes gonna be a top contender in the 185lb division.” Veteran G-Force fighter and original member Joe Pegg started of with a Bang landing a nice solid round kick to his opponents face before getting taken down. Joe pulled guard and nearly sunk a triangle but his opponent was able to pass in Joe quickly turned to his side but exposed a little to much of his back and was caught in a rear naked choke. Joe loves to stand up and bang but nobody ever wants to stay up with him once they get kicked in the face with his sweet dreams foot the always want to take him down, Joe normally fights 135 but since no 135’s were available he decided to fight up a weight class to get in on the MMA Bigshow. Next up for G-Force was fighter Jake Larter after opening up with a nice combination on his opponent Ricky Phillips. Phillips shot in for a single leg. Jake stuffed the takedown and pulled guard Phillips unleashed a birage of punches inside Jakes guard. Larter covered up and Phillips passed Jakes guard and moved into mount throwing more punches. Larter covered up again and reversed Phillips mount to end up in his guard. With only 30 seconds left in the round Jake unloaded his fury on Phillips until the bell rang. Phillips couldn’t answer the bell for the second round and Larter takes home the win. Last minute replacement Quinton Simpson stepped up to fight the heavy hands of Dominick Steele. Quinton only had 2 weeks to prepare for the fight and did well considering the experience and power of Steele losing to him in the first round. With time and good hard mma training Quinton will prove to be a force in the Heavyweight division. See the  post for the Champions Chris Bennett and Colt Helton for their results

Cody “Judo” gets his first time in the Cage

Cody Gabelman “Judo” as he is known on the New Richmond wrestling team stepped into the cage for the first time in a Submission Grappling exhibition match against Dennis Swift Jr. at the Ring of Rage 5 event. It was agreed upon that the boys would do (3) 2 minute rounds of submission grappling no strikes allowed even if one of the boys tapped out we wanted to let them have all 3 rounds. The 1st round was really exciting as both boys put on a display of jiu-jitsu reversals sweeps and takedowns. Cody sunk a rear naked choke in the end of the first round but Dennis was able to hold on till the bell. In the second round “judo” came out and hit a beautiful double leg slam and went right for the back sinking the RNC and forcing Swift to tap. Third Round swift comes out and hits a nice takedown and pulls guard to sink in the guilotine, but Cody was able to defend and secured sidemount control. Swift quickly escapes sidemount and Cody pulls butterfly guard and hits a nice sweep to regain mount till the final bell. I was a little bit nervous for Cody when he stepped into the cage for the first time not really for his skills I knew his skills were in tact he’s been doing jiu-jitsu since he was 3, I was more worried he’d get some kinda crazy injury that I would have to tell Coach Shinkle about since he was to wrestle in districts the following weekend and I promised Coach he wouldn’t get hurt but all in all I was proud of both boys their sportsmanship before and after the fight was far superior then some of the MMA Adults I’Ve seen. If you long time G-Force Fans remember his is how Chris got his start. Cody is set to go again sometime late summer against the winner of the next teen event at Ring of Rage. I think it’s great that the promotors let these boys have a match under the big lights and crowds of an MMA event it lets them get one step closer to learning to be a good fighter Special Thanks to Dennis Swift and Crew at Ring of Rage and Coach Shinkle from New Richmond for letting us pull this off during wrestling season.
